About Girls Takeover
Since 2016, Plan International has been organising Girls Takeover globally every year on October 11, the International Day of the Girl, offering opportunities to young women to take on leadership roles in corporations and lead professional teams, allowing them to showcase their potential and talents, advocate for the rights of other women and girls, and drive positive change. As of 2025, over 7,000 young women worldwide have participated in the campaign to advance gender equality as they learn, lead, decide and thrive.

Plan International Hong Kong is delighted to collaborate with Kotex again this year to promote menstrual equality. Kotex, a brand under Kimberly-Clark Hong Kong. As the market leader of menstrual products in Hong Kong for the last decade, on average, 1 in 2 women in Hong Kong chooses Kotex to meet their menstrual hygiene needs. Kotex is also committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, women’s empowerment, as well as investing in promoting menstrual education to 45 thousands local school girls every year. |
This year, our participant will “take over” the Marketing Director at Kotex. From August to October, she will plan and execute a marketing campaign to raise public awareness of period poverty and menstrual stigma. Through this, they will promote menstrual equality, support women’s health and empowerment, and inject fresh energy into the brand—showcasing the power of girls!
What to expect?
- Two-way learning experience with Kotex:
- “Take over” the role of Marketing Director and share your knowledge and perspective as a young woman to advocate for positive change!
- Gain real-life experience in decision-making and strategic planning in branding and marketing.
- Leverage your influence and take action:
- Design and execute your own online campaign, especially by deriving content ideas from the audience insights you observe
- Raise public awareness and advocate for the advancement of girls’ rights, particularly in menstrual equity
Tentative Timeline
The Girls Takeover 2025 campaign will run from August to October. Participants are expected to attend all activities, plan and execute an online brand campaign, and present their work on the official “Takeover Day”.
