Communications Manager

The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to raise the organisation’s profile, build our authoritative voice on girls and local child safeguarding issues and communicate our work impacts among the donors and the public. She/He also leads the subordinates to carry out numerous corporate and marketing communications functions to achieve the communications and fundraising goals of the organisation.

PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement corporate communications to raise the organisation’s profile and build our authoritative voice on girls and child safeguarding issues through different channels.
  • Manage and produce corporate publications and collaterals including but not limited to bi-annual newsletters, e-News and annual review.
  • Issue press releases, media responses, prepare Q&As, coordinate media interviews for the spokesperson/ the ambassadors etc., to promote awareness of girls’ issues, local child safeguarding issues, and our work with the public.
  • Ensure the organsiation’s corporate and marketing communications materials are in line with the global branding guidelines and work with the vendor to carry out branding survey for gaining insights on shaping the communications strategies.
  • Manage the organisation’s website and social media platforms for building corporate image, supporting fundraising appeals as well as communicating girls’ and local child safeguarding issues and our work impacts.
  • Work with the fundraising teams to develop marketing communications materials and provide copywriting support.
  • Render support to local programme communications work.
  • Responsible for issue management and assisting in handling crisis in a timely manner.
  • Occasional travel to the field to collect communications and fundraising resources.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Level of education

  • University Degree in Communications, Translations, Journalism or related disciplines

Knowledge / Job Specific Competencies

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in communications and copywriting with at least 3 years supervisory skills; experience in working with NGO is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Strong ability in producing corporate and marketing communications materials in an appropriate style and tone that appeal to the target audiences
  • Solid understanding of content creation tailored to different social media platforms.
  • Established media network and experience in media relations
  • Knowledge in website revamp, website content development
  • Knowledge in printing, digital communications, and video production
