Board Director – General

The Board of Directors is the legal authority for Plan International Hong Kong Limited. As a member of the Board, a Board Member acts in a position of trust and is responsible for the effective governance of the organisation.   The Board must be independent of the management in order to fulfil its governance responsibilities.

To succeed as a Board Director, you should have significant professional leadership experience and strong diplomatic skills. The Board Members should passionately be committed to the organisation’s mission, contributing their time and expertise voluntarily.

Responsibilities:

  • Take the advisory role to oversee the organisation’s policies to meet goals and mission.
  • Keep up with environmental issues and trends that affect the organisation.
  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organisation’s mission.
  • Ensure that operations abide by relevant laws and regulations and make sure that any decisions or actions align with the interests of all stakeholders.
  • Regularly meet and attend boarding meetings and participate actively and conscientiously to set policies related to management and oversight.
  • Work collaboratively and foster a positive working relationship with other board members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all internal organisational affairs.

Specialisations and competencies:

  • 15 years of experience in management-level of public affairs, public relations and relevant industries.
  • Proven track record in an executive leadership role.
  • Previous board experience especially for NGOs preferred.
  • Sufficient time availability for board duties.
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organised, self-motivated, articulate, team player, leader, dedicated, outward going, multi-tasking skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Cantonese.
  • Commitment to Plan’s mission and vision and observe strict data privacy and child protection policies
  • Be aware and abstain from any conflict of interest.
